We have launched a modification of the Nuke ipban system in Nuke.
This modification allows you to import data from a cvs file into either your nuke tables or if installed the Nuke sentinel tables.
The download includes some 30000 ips which we have aquired from posts on both Nuke cops and Cops websites and the import file has been checked for both duplicate ips (removed) and against know good ip address's.

Whilst we should make this a free download, due to the work and time invloved we ask for a small donation (min $1.50) for all those who wish to download it complete with import file and block (shown on our site). Once the donation has been recieved, you will gain automatic access to the file within 24hrs

You can find us @ kissoftware[dot]org[dot]uk
Note:
The GPL explicitly states that you cannot charge for any application that requires phpNuke (a GPL application) to run. You are only allowed to charge for the delivery.

Whilst I am not doubting the usefulness of this list, I am always concerned when blocking IP's that genuine individuals will find themselves blocked no matter how carefully tested the list is.

Every time you block an IP there is the potential to block an entire server or provider.

Are all these IP's from users with static IP's?
What I mean to say is, are there any IP's which might have been from a dial-up connection which may well be allocated to someone other that the 'bad person' at some point?

There is always the possibilty that some of these ips ae from dynamic ip listings (dial -up connections) but the list was compiled from both nuke cops forums, see link : Nukecops Forums [nukecops.com]

and also from ips banned from our sites gathered in the last two years.

All ips are from people having problems with hackers or abuse (sentinel banned ips) and also from attempts at the admin logins, which @ kissoftware has an individual system to show ips accessing the file.

The checking of the ips involved the look up on whois and also the checking for duplicates which where mostly removed (95% at least)
We all know that some people will get caught in the trap of having their ip banned when they least suspect and have done nothing wrong, but a request could be applied to the file with an email to get it removed, untill of course it happens again.

During the several months of looking at these, the same countries came up, mainly asia and russian ip address's.

I believe that this could be a starting point and that the list can be modified over time and more added where required and removed, when people highlight their geniune or alleged innocence!. There was a definitive list made a year ago that is no longer avaiable from one of the nukecops forum posters, and after several hacks and defacing of forum admin and the site in general I have decided to do this to prevent it re-occuring.

The list is added to the nuke system tables and sentinel tables to double prevent access.
People have a choice, use the list or not to use it. I will let the community decide!
Regards To All Nukers
