Problem with RavenNuke 7.6 2.02.02 & CBNYA 4.42 "p

I've just installed Raven's Nuke 7.6 2.02.02 and from research on these forums, I found that some users have experienced "no issues at all" with CNB Your Account 750_442 (other postings indicated that the 750 version on the CNBYA was OK with 7.6) so I installed it as well.

Things seem to be Ok except I am encountering an "ERROR: There was a problem with the database" when I try to promote a user from a "normal" user to a moderator.

There was some discussion Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! and Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! on the issue, but nothing seemed to resolve the situation.

I'd love to run this down and correct it but am unsure where to start. I'm definitely a "cut and paste" PHP guy and not someone who is really all that familiar with the language.

well it can workif your lucky but not all functions are tested.
a lot of people are still waiting for the cnbya 5.0 release but i think it will never be released...
its promised more then once...
but there's nothing more i can say that will help you...
just the normal standard functions will work.

I'm not familiar with CNBYA and even though I can program a bit I wouldn't fool with experimental and unsupported software such as that on a "production" system. If you look at the two threads you referenced you can infer that the problem is there is a discrepancy between the database tables and what the software (i.e., the CNBYA php programs) are expecting. When that happens you are lucky to get the kind of warning you did rather than just a white screen of death. Again, looking at the threads, I'd infer that the CNBYA programs are looking for the authors table to have slightly different fields than they do in your system.

You could look thru the CNBYA code to try to find the promote users function and see what it expects when it tries to "promote" someone, probably in the authors table but also possibly in the users table. Then you could modify the table to correspond to the software or the software to correspond to your table. Or you could just use the standard Ravennuke 2.02 release (as Hitwalker hinted) and wait for someone to provide CNBYA type functions in a supported manner. The importance of enhancing the Your Account functionality is understood in the Ravennuke community but it will be some time before it is delivered, if I had to guess.

Excellent advice from both of you. Thank you very much.

The core functionality that I like in CBNYA is:

- emailing site admins that a new account has been created
- permitting admins to "gatekeep" these new accounts
- disabling the users ability to change the theme
- promoting existing users (which seems more of a convenience as I get to know Nuke. If I understand correctly, all moderator/admin accounts are, in fact, separate accounts from the "normal" account and can be setup easily enough through the edit admin's interface.

Two questions now, if I may.

1) I made the mistake of not closely reviewing the RavensNuke YA defaults (I know the "vanilla nuke" YA functions felt lacking), do some of the features I am interested in exist in Raven's Nuke default YA mod? If so, which ones?

2) It sounds as if I ought to uninstall CBNYA. I uploaded, from a backup, the default YA mod folder, and all corresponding files (after renaming the CBNYA files & folders to get them 'out of the way'). I then 'commented out' all the manual mainfile.php edits that were required thus restoring mainfile.php. Lastly, I ran the cbnya.php file and deinstalled all the cbnya DB mods. Alas, after all this, my content area was "white screen of death" (though the header did render.) Any idea of what I'm missing on this deinstall?

Can you be more clear on what you mean by that ?
Ravennuke comes with a standard your_account.

Whe you uninstall make sure everything is back to normal again...
take out the edits in the mainfile bottom....
check the tables that are altered during install and if they still exist.
etc.....

it will show you in the install file.

Sorry I was unclear. I had not spent the time reviewing the RN YA module to determine whether or not was modified or the standard YA module. From your comment, I'm assuming its the same functionality I saw in my initial Nuke 7.8 "vanilla" installation that I have scrapped in favor of Raven's Nuke 7.6?

I suspect my uninstall problems are related to the DB structure. Either the CBNYA deinstaller is not deinstalling properly and/or it is leaving behind some changes. I'll have to look more closely at that and perhaps not trust the deinstaller Wink

no you shouldnt trust that stuff...
with the latest release 100 years ago it had a few minor bugs in it....
and the install only works if the working enviroment is in top shapen and NOT with nuke versions higher like 7.8.
it would have been easier if you had made a backup...

Of course. I've been getting my head around Nuke these past few weeks and have done a good job backing up the "HTML" files but I seem to forget to backup the database. Sigh. Thanks for the help and advice.
