I have no idea what I'm doing up in the middle of the night pacific time.
It was wonderful at my nuke group tonight. I've definitely decided I love to nuke in groups. Way better!
So there we are... session three ... it's time to build a block! Three ways and use the heredoc syntax in files. Then one said ... " do I have to have that title graphic above my block?" And I said... it's in the theme.php, good question. Someone else said let me have at that function. And lickity split with a little if statement, there were blocks without title graphics! Of course this made an issue in the blocks administration... but it was an excellent introduction into getting to the core of things and making your nuke dance.
Code:function themesidebox($title, $content) {
echo "<table border=\"0\" align=\"center\" width=\"138\" cellpadding=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\">";
if ($title) {
echo "<tr><td background=\"themes/DeepBlue/images/table-title.gif\" width=\"138\" height=\"20\">"
." <font color=\"#FFFFFF\"><b>$title</b></font>"
."</td></tr>";

I'm watching this and thinking .. this is way too cool. Real live programmers and we're working at our nukes! I'm a small town gal and easily impressed.
There was once a portal project in Canada. I'm not familiar with it, all big business stuff, and they didn't ask me to play with them at the time. Anyways, millions and millions were spent on the concept and prototypes.
I'll get more details when I'm not falling out of my chair with dead tired, but it didn't work. So, why not? My own portal project is working great for my community, it's a big hit, I'm famous, all on $25/mo. So, I'm going to be interested to hear next week how throwing millions and millions at their project ended in failure.
Anyways... back at home in my sysadmin chair, it was busy in chat tonight. My darling users, finding me in chat, and me, typing at them about popup blockers for the gazillionth time, it isn't the most productive way forward. I need a better help system. But it was all fun anyways.
Fifty women, 75% over 50, in a room .. when asked if they have a computer, all but one puts up her hand. They all have them, they just don't know how to use them. Staying connected without nasties is one thing, rollovers, icons, links, tools and even forms are not friendly for them ... storing, changing, sending information is an alien task, best left to the aliens, and the sysadmin.
The ironic thing about all this is that in the same room on another day, with another group, all the facts would be the same as the above, except one fact ... they would all be under 30!
Go figure.
Anyways, what I really wanted to rant about was the horrid phpbb membership list location sorting. Raven has about 100 pages of members. So, I wanted to check out the Canadians... so, after clicking through 41 pages of no locations whatsoever ... I'm giving up and going to bed. |
