moddable search code

I want to search through a certain field in my users' table and return only results if another field is "1". Can anyone point me to a good place for this or spit me out some code I can work on myself? I'm learning SQL ok, but my site needs to go live Tuesday night.

SELECT certain_field{, other_fields, you_want} FROM nuke_users WHERE another_field = '1' AND certain_field LIKE '%string_to_search%';
