Hi all,
once more i need your help.
Due to a server upgrade i want to install a fresh installation of phpnuke 7.6 patched if possible.
Now when i check in raven's download area Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login!
i notice it is the phpnuke 7.6 patch level 2.8 but the size is significally smaller than the original unpatched phpnuke 7.6 version at the creator's site (FB) Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login!
There is a difference of about 1.5Mb
Now, if one of the moderators is kind enough to explain me why is this? if this difference is something to ignore or what?
I mean ,i dont want to know the details, just if it is it ok to download the patched version from the download area here? (with a brief explanation if posiible)
Thx... |

Mine is packed as a .tar.gz file, which packs signifigantly better and smaller that .zip. |

Raven,
I have tried to download this file 5 different ways and either way I cannot get Winzip to unzip it. I get everything from "Not a valid zip file" to "Error reading header information" to just coming up with a blank zip file.
I don't recall every having these issues before with a gzip. Funny thing is that when I click on the download link, the file name has a .tar.tar extension rather than a .gz extension. Did you gzip it with the -9 option? If so, I wonder if that is it.
Any chance you can provide a zip version?
TIA,

Well yes,
i unpacked both versions. They r the of the same size. So, what raven says is right that rar packs really better than zip (in this case at least).
(Crowd's voice--> Can you use your brain -if any- a little bit more nikits? you could save us some time.)
Thx... |

montego | This is an XP Service Pack 2 issue that is documented elsewhere. Gates broke it and personally I believe on purpose! Anyway, get WinRar ( http://winrar.com ) - a much better product |

Actually, all you have to do is rename it with proper extension after downloading it and it will unzip just fine. |

Yup. Raven is correct. I tried several different methods of renaming. That is what I meant by "tried to download this file 5 different ways". |

Get winrar. It comes with like a 30 day trial. I purchased it immediately. |
