Hi everyone,

I have just installed PHP-Nuke version 7.6 with 3.0 patch.

I am currently customising the website with my own graphics and text etc.

Once this is done, I will address the extra security protection by reading about NukeSentinel and installing it.

I am presently the only member on my website and I just thought I would test the 'Newsletter' function.

I sent a test mail and it has not been received.

After this I have realised that I have not changed any configurion in the Nuke Files to do with e-mail or smpt etc., so I assume this is the problem. I have no clue where such details as the e-mail address or smpt server info should go or which files to modify, in order to be able to send mass e-mails out.

I assume that until this matter is addressed, another problem would be that anyone signing up to the website would not receive a confirmation e-mail.

Please would someone advise me what files, (if any), requiring modifying and what I should be entering and where.

Thanks in advance.

The default PHP-Nuke newsletter function uses the PHP mail() function with the webmaster email address defined in the Admin/Preferences as the "from" address to send email.

If the from email address doesn't match the domain that is sending the email or isn't defined on the sending email server, chances are that the email WAS sent, but deleted by a spam tool on the recipient email server. I usually test spam issues with my Yahoo account as it seems to not block anything, even though the Spam filter is turned on...

Also, I'm assuming you sent the email to EVERYONE, rather than to moderators or a specific group (not sure how the newsletter function handles groups in 7.6 as I use a completely different and much-improved newsletter module). If you sent it to moderators (or some other option) and haven't setup your user as a member of that group, that could also explain why it was not received.

Kevin,

Problem solved...Thanks to your advise.

In the admin/preference I had used the e-mail address 'webmaster@mydomainname.com', but there was no such account in existance.

I have created a specific 'webmaster@mydomainname.com' e-mail account on the server and now everything works just fine.

Great - I've had plenty of issues recently with spam blockers, so I'm very happy to see that this resolved yours.
