Hiya, maybe someone can tell straight away what this error means and typical causes...

Logged into site this morning, well tried anyway, says MYSQL server is down, but strange thing is that the hosts forums and so on are up and going, usually when the MYSQL is down tehn the hosts are too, now I understand they may have them on seperate servers now but just a note.

Here is the error shown in my cpanel...

Quote:
DBI connect 'mysql:localhost','root',... failed: Too many connections at /usr/local/cpanel/Cpanel/Mysql.pm line 42 ERROR 1040: Too many connections

I took out brackets in the above code just in case it came out weird.

I have left a ticket with teh hosting support of course but just if anyone could possibly explain the above ? Is it just hte MYSQL going down or could it be something worse ? Doesn't seem like a DDOS attack anyway, at least I can access teh rest of the site no probs.

Nothing recently was installed or changed on the site and all was working perfect last night, which was the last time I accessed the site, around 4am or so from home then in work I tried access at 8am or so.

Cheers,

Trev.

Nevermind, sorry. Site is back up again, must've just been the MTSQL server going down.

This will do a better job of explaining the 1040 issues

Thanks. I think they're having problems with persistent connections, or something like that. At least that's what they were saying anyway.

Still it's back up now and gave me an excuse not to partake on the forums for a few hours Smile
