Worth downloading?

I recently installed 7.3 but now i see that 7.4 is out lol... Is this less or more buggy then 7.3 and is it worth installing?

IMO just apply Chats fixes to 7.2 and you're there.

My host offers 7.4 auto installed by Fantastico.

Will I need to install 7.5 when it is released or is 7.4 stable? Also, how do I tell if this 7.4 has Chat's patches?

I am tired of trying to keep up with new versions and having my site messed up. I want to pick a version and stay with it, but I want it to be stable and secure.

I want to be sure Chat's patches are in and I will install Sentinal 2.1.

Chances are, the auto-install from Fantistico is NOT going to have Chat's patches. Those usually are not integrated by CPanel.....

As for upgrading, it depends on how many module/block add-ons you run in addition to your site. Many modules need upgraded/altered to run properly with 7.5 because a new admin layout was implemented. I am on 7.4 and am staying here until I absolutely have to, or can get all my modules compliant with 7.5's admin system (which I would test locally first)

Here's what I do.....upgrade to 7.4 with the patches applied

0. CREATE A BACKUP OF YOUR DATABASE!!!!
1. Download 7.4
2. Download the 2.6 Chatserv patch
3. Unzip/Untar 7.4 to your local PC and apply the 2.6 patch.
4. Apply changes to the 7.4 (now updated with 2.6) depending on your add-ons/modules/blocks you use.
5. Triple check to ensure you have everything modified correctly (to include config.php which is easy to forget about *grin* for me at least).
6. Upload your newly patched/altered 7.4 to your site and run any applicable phpnuke upgrade scripts (i.e. 7.3-7.4)

That should do it for now......but that's just my 2 cents. Your mileage may vary (YMMV).
