Ok as requested this nice question about sentinels tracked ip's table.
I have traking ip set to 1 day , but the table is 5mb by now and i thought that is to much.

So i asked raven about this and he gave a short tut on why this is.
To quote him a bit
Quote:
Auto clear is based on your rules. You might set union blocks to be for 7 days and clike to be for 1 day. Auto clear honors each time limit. You track IP's for research and legal purposes.

Ok...i understand that but when it comes to attacking noobs etc im the unforgiven kind.,meaning...all blocks are forever......
So what happens now is that in my situation my tracked ip's table only gets bigger and the only way to clear it is manualy..
That cant be right...?

But it is a bit dubious realy...all my blocks are forever, auto blocks are set to off naturaly so setting traking ip's to 1 day is in that situation useless cause nothing gets cleared...

And the ones that get banned are in the banned list and htacces so at that point there shouldnt be any connection anymore with tracking ip's..
Anyone can shed some light on this...

Hello raven...
What do you mean by ..Clear Expired Blocked IP?
I dont use any function to clear any !
Every blocked wannabe hacker is banned for good.
So thats my situation..

And like i said....

If the attacker is banned with his ip in the table and htaccess why the use of ip tracking...,i mean why does it have to get so big...

As I explained in the PM, you need to manually click on the Clear Expired Blocked IP's link in the Admin menu if you don't have the Auto clear expired blocks settin turned on. It's your choice. Not all blocked IP's have to have the same expiry date. That's why we offer that functionality. It doesn't have to get so big if you have configured it appropriately. You control how many days to keep in the setup panel.

Well maybe im an idiot but arent we talking about 2 seperate things here?
Im talking about tracked ip's..!

I have that set to 1 day !
So what happens after that day ?

and the AutoClear Blocks clearly says..."clears expired blocks... " !
But expired blocks and tracking ip's are different things isnt it ?

You're correct - sorry. I was confusing the two Bang Head Today has been a very long week. I'll add this to the list of things to check into with NukeSentinel(tm). Thank you for your patience with me on this. With Bob out for a while I'm pulling a lot of extra duty right now Wink
