I have just tried to post a message on the site I am building.

The content is full of HTML and Java Script.

When I try to save/post the message, I received the following warning:

'The html tags you attempted to use are not allowed'

I have narrowed the cause of the problem down to the java scrips, by trying the post without them, (which worked).

The java scrips are there in order to make a new window pop up when the user clicks on a link.

I guess I could use the option of 'Target Blank' for opening a link in new window, however I need to use the java script menthod because I wanted a new window to open to a specific size and located in a specific place on the screen.

I have searched other forums (i.e. 'How To') for the solution, but cannot see anything about pop up windows.

Anyone know the solution to this?

not in a normal way,its the security that prevents the use of such code.
so in plain english,if you alter that you might as well put up a sign with...please hack me,im right here... ROTFL

Hi hitwalker,

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my last posting.

So to confirm, even as a site administrator, if I want to keep the security level of the site as it is, (which is the same as when the install took place a few hours ago), I am not able to include any Java Scritp into a posting on a module, block, or message etc?...Is that correct?

How do you suggest I acheive a link popoing up in an external window then? Am I allowed/able to use the HTML 'Target Blank' tag?...If I can, thenas I previously explained, the reason I didnt want to use it and was prefering to use a java pop up, is that I want to 'control' the size and location of the pop up...Is their an alternative option?

Well i asumed you mean by posting...
But posting anything that contains java script isnt allowed.
But you can use it in a module or block as part of the code...
The file to add the java part is usualy the javascript.php in your includes folder.
But an easy solution is also to put it in your includes/custom_files/custom_header.php
and the code to openup the window you can use in block or module.
but also check if its both IE and firefox compatible.
