I do like the PC Killer templates, and I have used them quite a lot. But I have noticed that unlike many php scripts this is an idea that has not been expanded upon.
I think that it would be a great idea to make it plant a file on their hard drive, like a virus for example, as well as what it does already. That would definately stop people from trying to hack Nuke based websites, don't you think? But it should replace something that the "hacker" would probably have a shortcut to on their desktop and let them open the virus themself, that way it avoids accidental infection if the site's staff are attempting to do something but Senty thinks they are trying to hack the site.
Let me know if you think this is a good idea.
Thanks,

This would make us no better than the people you are trying to stop IMO. |

I don't think it would, because if they want to take the risk of attacking a website they should be prepared for the website to bite back. They shouldn't even be attempting to attack the website in the first place. It's just taking website defence to the extreme really
But everyone has their own opinion and thank you for sharing yours |

I totally agree with FireATST and it would be a good way to get your site blacklisted! |

You might try something less "guerilla" for instance maybe 20 pop-ups or redirects, maybe use server side redirects like headers etc so they cant stop it, given even script kiddies block js. |

The popups and redirects that horrorcode advised? Yes but normally it only does 5, so I modify it to around 6 or 700 whenever I use it.
What can I say? I take site attacks very seriously
I am working on my own build of Nuke and I know exactly how frustrating it is when you spend so much time developing the site and then have it exploited by some random script kiddie on a power trip. lol |

Trust me I've triggered them before by accident and it is a pain the backside. |

No unfortunatly the smarter ones run proxies so they just restart their computer, use a different proxy and try again. |

With most using dynamic IPs its actually alot simpler then restarting, with mine I just click a shortcut on my desktop and wait 15-20 seconds, all depends on the person I guess.
But with redirects and popups it should annoy them enough to not want to come back, and I dont see how changing your ip is going to make a difference there. |

No what I mean is when the site is hitting them with popups, because it disables the task manager they have to restart their computer because with 700 browser windows opening and no task manager to close them all you have to restart.
Unfortunatly it just pisses a lot of attackers off even more, making them want revenge so (if they are using broadband) they have to use a proxy, they just change proxy.
They need to use a proxy because Senty still blocks their IP... |

I welcome the attacks.......makes for a better, cleaner, more secure application
If you don't do regular backups........you will the first time you loose everything. |

Such "attacks" are never going to work on automated bots. They aren't traditional browsers or even clients. Sure it may annoy the average script kiddie, but its not ever going to stop the criminal enterprises that keep using hacked machines for spam, porn, and illegal distribution. |

Just as most attacks are from spoofed IP addresses, malicious punks could simply redirect innocent people to an attack URL on your site that results in PC killer - basically, they turn YOU into the attacker. This could be done though links on public websites, in spam, etc...
If someone is blocked with a message explaining the attack or redirected, they will understand that they clicked a bad link and appreciate the message (and this certainly gives a link / redirect attacker less incentive to use your site in this way). If you shut down their PC, they might take other actions against you. |

We have no interest in promoting this. No offense but we could be charged with Internet Terrorism. |
