Hi

I have installed WAMP5 which installs Apache 1.3.31 ,PHP5, MySQL database ,PHPmyadmin and SQLitemanager on a spare drive of my computer. It's aim is to allow me to play around with various flavors of php-nuke and addons.

But I have a problem logging into admin.

So my initial question is...Can Sentinel be installed in this way?

If so this is what I have done so far.

    Installed PHP Nuke 7.6 c/w 3.1 patch (downloaded from here).
    Installed Sentinel 242_71-79 files (downloaded from here).
    Edited core files as per install instructions with no problems except the mainfile.php edit but sorted that out with advice from this forum.
    Installed Sentinel database (nsnst.php)
    In Sentinel Admin
    Scanned for Admins
    Edit Admins names, passwords, protection on
    Go back to Sentinel Admin
    Noticed that Global_names_off error so edited php.ini and set global_names on
    Set Path to .staccess - Save
    Renamed sample.staccess on server to .staccess having checked that file size=0
    Go to Sentinel Admin Auth List
    Build the CGI Auth File
    Confirmed .staccess file size =>0 (it does..... admin:$1$oF2.Rq0.$Ux.943uR2oyYqNb.fzcfF1(admin:test))
    Edit sample.htaccess path

Quote:
Options All -Indexes
DirectoryIndex index.php index.htm index.html

# -------------------------------------------
# Start of NukeSentinel(tm) admin.php Auth
# -------------------------------------------
<Files .htaccess>
deny from all
</Files>

<Files .staccess>
deny from all
</Files>

<Files admin.php>
<Limit GET POST PUT>
require valid-user
</Limit>
AuthName "Restricted"
AuthType Basic
AuthUserFile /localhost/ngnuke/.htaccess
</Files>

# -------------------------------------------
# Start of NukeSentinel(tm) DENY FROM area
# -------------------------------------------

    Saved .htaccess file
    Go back to Sentinel Admin
    Set path to .htaccess (save) Get a path error warning on the Sentinel Admin page under the path field. (Ignored it.)
    Renamed sample.htaccess to .htaccess
    Refreshed admin page Login to system authentication popup.
    I got an authorisation error.

I have read all the posts tried various AuthUserFile paths but all to no avail so I suspect WAMP5 can't be used, or am I missing something or done something wrong?

Any help would be most appreciated before I throw my PC out of the window (very late night last night). lol

Regards

Martyn.

Options All -Indexes will do no good if Apache is not using

<Directory />
Options FollowSymLinks
AllowOverride All
</Directory>

or later on does not use AllowOverride All. In other words, you can have
<Directory />
Options FollowSymLinks
AllowOverride None
</Directory>

as long as you later have
AllowOverride All for the web server root. That may be the source of your problem. The Options FollowSymLinks just happens to be in my code. You don't need that for this issue.

Hi Raven

You were right Apache config was Options FollowSymLinks AllowOverride None so I changed it to all.

But thats not the answer I still have the same problem.

Any more ideas?

Martyn

Make positive you don't have another statement that says AllowOverride None later on.

Hi Raven

The whole httpd.conf file (PM sent) has been checked and all AllowOverrides are set to "AllowOverride all".
If you have no other ideas I might have to conceed this effort and test install on host server.

Hi

I think we will have to leave this one unresolved. I have taken out the .htaccess file and everything else is working fine.

Thanks anyway.

Hmmm. I am also running wamp5 with Raven NUke 7.6 and sentinel and so on and I havent run into this issue. Is it possible there is an admin permission that needs to be set somewhere in a sentinel file. Like the allowing of an ip or something like that.? I'm hosting the site im running on my own box and the only problems I have geting in to admin is when i try to do it from the localhost option on the wamp5 server if i browse directly to the url it works great.
