This is just a comment on the general support here.
I like to think that im helping as much as i can here but i do get frustrated if mods or whoever reply a topic that is already been answered....a bit like...wherever hitwalker goes we go.
But im getting bored with that.
If i cant help i usualy dont reply to a topic unless its not answered for hours...
But to my opinion everything is being done double and because of that the support isnt well used and offered.
This also goes for NEW mods and helpers who think they have a lot of catching up to do.....
It gives a bad taste to the support if every topic is hunted so you can reply, useless or not...
But i do honestly believe that theres no use in helping anymore if it continues in this way....
Dont get me wrong.....it makes no difference to me... |

We definitely appreciate your support and the many responses you give. But I'd say having more responses than are needed is better than having none.
Sometimes, even a post that doesn't directly help may help indirectly by bumping the topic or showing others that someone else cares about it.
Keep up the good work, hitwalker... |

i do agree...
i just mean that if its clear that a problem is taken care of,meaning....someone is already helping out....we should wait and see if it gets solved by the person who is helping at that moment...
i hope this makes any sense... |

in a way thats true...but heres my opinion...4 ppl...4 different point of views...we cant all ask him/her...which one of use gets what ur askin the best...so i think 4 ppl...one has got to see clearly the same point of view as the person who is askin the question...later on down the road....if answered his/her question and a new person looks at it...they have 4 sets of opinions to look at now....that gives them the opportunity to do the same thing...which one is exlaining it best for them to understand...to be honest i have answer a LOT of post because the statements (to me) seemed they maybe confusing to some1 who doesnt understand...and i tried to say the SAME thing...just as simple as i could put it....i think this has been beneficial to future visitors and the current visitor as in a lot of posts it seems to have cleared it up just enough...and in others it seems that my post was more overlooked...as if to say i didnt clearify it properly...but they got the point eventually...plus, even though it may seem to answer the question more then once...fresh idea...fresh perspective....there maybe somethin the mods have overlooked...its hard to remember fixes i did 6 months ago...some1 with a fresh idea is sometimes exactly what they need to help them better.
Its all about them.....just my opinion |

well, i thought that was my job...explaining it all simple....
i do understand but look at it this way....
someone asks for help....
suppose his or her knowledge isnt that great...
i reply......you reply......montego replies....kguske replies....and when he's not to busy with his B.B.Q raven replies.....and guess what....guardian replies...
and this can go on....
now do you realy believe this is for the good?
You think that the person who asked for help is qualified enough to know who to believe ? |

I actually prefer getting help from various people. More choices, different views, different opinions, etc. Sure one person could jump in and post the code or whatever to solve the problem, but if more people jump in and say "hey what about this..." or "here's a better, more secure way..." or "you could also do this..."
To me, that's what communities are all about. |

i believe anyone in this forum knows raven is the best resource to listen to when he posts
all they do is follow whichever one makes the point as they can understand it easier...and with 5 different ideas...some1 can finally come out and say...this idea makes more sense then any of the others...either them or us....i think it does help...it gives them options...and it also lets em know that they are not alone..when ppl run into errors..they get confused and scared...now they know they have 6 ppl working on their problem..it may not seem like its hard to fix to u or i or anyone else here...but to them its a hurtle they cannot seem to find a way over and its stoppin them dead in their track...we dont just help them solve the problem...we also make em feel like their problem is the most important thing on our plate right now....(we know better but they dont need to) because it simply makes them feel like they are not alone and they have a better shot at answering their own question with a level head and being clear enough for us to understand...i dont know how many times ive heard...wheres my database?
and ive held back but i wanted to say how in the **** are we supposed to know...
but they need our help and we offer as much support both mentally and script wise as we can. |

mmmm, sounds ok to you but i dont agree...
like i said....i only reply to a topic if i can help out or if mods not answered it for hours.....
thats because i believe raven, montego, kguske or guardian can answer that...or more qualified....
the main goal is that a person gets support/helped....not by 10 people all at once.
in that way the "helper" can focus better on the problem...
thats what i believe anyway... |

Just getting to this thread and will add my 2-cents worth in order to up the number of repliers to this...
We are ultra sensitive to doing whatever it takes to ensure the person with the question / issue / comment gets a satisfactory and timely response. That is what makes this community so great in my, and many other "customer's" opinion. However, each of us have different demands on our lives which can impact our abilities to response.
Take me for example. I only get 1 - 2 hours per day, in the early mornings here, to respond. Well, what is that person going to do for the next 22-23 hours? Sit and wait. I don't like that and I am positive they won't like that. I most certainly appreciate all the "assists" that others are giving while I am away.
So, as far as I am concerned, "post away"! The objective is to help that person out to a successful resolution as well as build the community "knowledge base" so that others can find the answers they need even without posting.
Unfortunately, since I have only a few hours a day and many times much less, I have to jump in when I can... |
